General:

Sperm freezing or semen cryopreservation can be scheduled at BocaFertility by calling the office at 888.368.1211.  Same day appointment is available for cancer patients, who are scheduled to begin their treatment imminently.  Please obtain a prescription from your doctor requesting the semen cryopreservation.

Description of Analysis:

A detailed semen analysis will be performed by our laboratory director prior to the sperm freezing.   You may be asked and/or may be given the option of submitting more then one specimen so that optimal number of vials may be frozen; this will depend on the semen analysis results.

Why Freeze Sperm?

The most common indication for sperm cryopreservation procedure is to preserve future fertility.  Patients who are candidates for this procedure includes men who will be scheduled to undergo treatments that may increase their risk of infertility (such as cancer treatments), men undergoing sterilization procedures who would like to keep their fertility options open or couples who want to preserve sperm for future use (military couples).  Sometimes sperm freezing is another option for a husband who may be traveling frequently and who may not be available for fertility treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), or In Vitro Fertilization  (IVF).
